I searched around the web and found that there is not a trans temp display for my 2008 Tahoe Z-71 except by connecting a scanner to the diagnostic port. Is that true? I have seen some trans temp displays on the oem dash on the same platform year 07-14. Thanks in advance.

A live data scanner will have that reading. Typically it takes a 3/4 ton or larger platform for it to display on the dash cluster. I sent my dash cluster to Digital Dash Display and got a cluster with a transmission temp gauge on my 2005 Tahoe Z71.

should be able to pull it up in the dic display I have it on mine and many others do as well, just cycle thru pushing the top button, it should cycle thru miles, mpg, etc, just go until you see trans temp.

So, I tried scrolling through the DIC and nothing would display. Hmm? I pressed and held it several times and still nothing. Anyone one run into this issue where nothing would display? I do have a Range AFM disabler. Not really knowing if that made a difference so I tried it with it plug in and with it removed. Same result.
Anyone have this happen before?

nothing at all? it doesn't show mileage or anything?????? if so then the display is burnt out
and you do not "hold" it for the top button you just press it, the only thing that gets held is the "checkmark" button for things completely unrelated to transmission temp display

Yep, nothing displayed. The switch is appears to be functional as it can be pressed in from that stand point.

I can read all the other display functions such as TPMS, engine hours, mileage, etc just nothing with the DIC. All the other buttons below the DIC work as they should.
