So goin down the road in i believe 3rd gear. Under load, if i roll on before it catches up and up shifts, or downshifts under the load there is an odd noise from the drive train. the only way i can describe it is a grumble either in the transmission or the transfer case, not a grind or anything like that just a weird audible difference. Also at the same time the tach tends to bounce a little and you can hear the rpm fluctuate in the motor. But, floor it and it doesnt skip a beat. Is this a normal occurance for a 2000 tahoe lt with 110k?

If the rpm's go up and down while shifting into overdrive, there is a plate above the valve body in the trans that is getting worn out. If you leave it go too long it will take out the trans. I know from experience with my 2000 silverado. As for the rumble, I've never had that so I can't comment.

what I am talking about is that it seems to go into overdrive and back out multiple times until you go over 50mph then it settles into overdrive. It sounds like we may be talking about the same problem, but hard to know for sure without hearing it for myself. If you take it easy on the truck, I mean drive like grandpa, does it act funny between 40mph and 50mph?

Yessir, you need to make sure you get through that range in 3rd or lower. I recommend beating the hell out of it and getting past 50 in 2nd.

you'll probably get a torque converter slip code 1870 eventually. As long as it's not the torque converter itself, the most likely issue is the valve body (and separator plate as noted in previous post). Just went through this 2 months ago. See if you can pull any pending codes...

Just the seperator plate should fix you. I haven't done one yet my self, I sold the silverado to my buddy now that I have the tahoe and he is going to run it until it won't move anymore then slap a 4l80 in it. Once he does the swap, I am going to try my hand at building the old 4l60 he takes out so when my trans goes I will have a built one sitting there.
