Hey there gang! My last post was about a snapped intake manifold bolt...i found some locally and replaced all ten instead of just the one that snapped for $25.00 A box of five. I also switched out all o rings on fuel injectors and cleaned them...i got everything put back together after knock sensors and pigtail and my my Tahoe is back in action...no codes! Now I might have to do some a/c work as it's blowing hot air. Anyone done their own a/c repair like changing out the orings?

Hot air? You sure it's not blend door shenanigans?
Nope no shenanigans! My truck sat for about a year with just starting to idle until I tore into it...my compressor died I thought but I added some a.c. pro and it started to kick back on and off. My question. Is once the compressor stops, the level moved up to yellow just before red after several shots...when the compressor cycled back on...the level dropped to low. Which one am I supposed to be watching? When it cycles off or when it cycled on? I don't want to blow anyhting up.

I mean it's probably already boinked between that can of goo and sitting with nothing in there, letting moisture accumulate in the desiccant. 50/50 if you can find a place that'll do an evac on it, you might need to call waste disposal if not. Stuff clogs up the machines at the shop. And the source of the leak was never addressed. Add to that, using only low side pressure to charge the a/c system, without so much as a regard to ambient temp is poor practice.

Not trying to be a dick, but I'd find a shop to tackle that one. Maybe they have a way of cleaning up the system, maybe not.

No...i get it. I'm going to do the evac...just don't have a vacuum or gauges to do myself...so I'll take to a shop. I'm just glad my compressor isn't dead. Luckily I only put about 5-8 seconds worth of spray and stopped...didnt want to chance anything.

Charges are measured by weight, not by pressure. Diags and quick checks are done by pressure, which would assume an appropriate charge in the system to get any usable info out of it

you will need to vacuum out the system

i suggest you have a pro remove the Freon so you don't vent it to the atmosphere...

it will have to be vacuumed after as well to remove moisture out of the system

its a lot of work better off just paying someone to do it
