Just out of curiosity?
What specifically is done on the jenna bear mods to the ECM. Are we talking modifiying the timeing tables and injectors tables? What about knock sensor tables etc? Are the rev limiters changed and the AFR tables?

Does it have to be OBD2 or are there applications for OBD1? :)

There is a couple of places that tune OBD1: tbichips.com, fastchip.com

fastchip would be the better one out of the two, there is another place that is also highly respected but the name eludes me at the moment.

I'm not using either OBD1 or OBD2, I was just curious as to what, specifically, was being done for the stock ECM's,to gain power?

I don't know as I've not got a tune from them, but as a tuner I can tell you what most tuners do to stock vehicles to gain more power. Timing, timing, timing. There's not a lot left to tune if you have no modifications to the engine. They wouldn't be changing the injector tables as, you have the same injectors. Probably a lot of transmission tuning, turn fans on sooner if you have Efans, and timing changes.

That's assuming you have no 'problems' if you have modifications or issues with it, it will be a different ballgame. Do the blackbear tuning people use EFI Live or HP Tuners? I don't see these trucks on my list of support vehicles in HPT, maybe I"ll have to hook onto a friend's 1998 and take a look since I've got a lowly 1995 with ODBI and i have no desire to load tunercat back up.

EFI Live. My 03 made HUGE gains after my custom tune. After 96, the torque management is the worst enemy.
95 and older, I heard many people love Ed Wrights fastchip.com mods. 96 and up, custom tunes.

So do they turn off "torque management", or modify the settings?
