I see you’re in Big Bear. Which yards do you go to? All I have here is Anaheim and their yards are kinda small and picked over.
Never noticed you’re a fellow socal member!! And Orange of all places! I have family in villa park and Yorba linda. Whenever I’m going there I try to hit up the Anaheim and Buena Park yards. I’ve had decent luck there but I suppose that’s because the SUVs I found had yet been brought in.

anyways, I love the LKQ Hesperia yard! It’s always well stocked and things move in and out quickly so fresh rigs come in somewhat often. My second favorite is the LKQ San Bernardino yard! I was there two Sunday’s ago and there were a ton of GMT800 SUVs AND pickups to rummage through! There was even a GMT900 Escalade ESV in the yard! I was shocked to see it! THOUGH it was VERY picked over. Lol. I scored a lower dash cover in good shape, though it turned out to be the wrong color... oops... lol. And I scored a set of cables intact that make the second row captains chair on the passenger side slide back and forth. Still trying to figure that one out but those cables that GM doesn’t make anymore were like 1 buck for all 3!! Big score for me haha.

I’ve been to LKQ yards as far south as Chula Vista, and San Diego, and as far north as Fresno in my travels. West I’ve been to several in LA county that were good as well. They also bought out the bigger junkyard out by the Victorville logistics airport in Adelanto. The last time I was there, there was decent stock. That was a bit ago though so next junkyard run im probably gonna get out there and check it out.

check out LKQ’s website as it gives you locations of all the California yards they operate, hours of operation, and the best part is you can search the vehicle inventory that’s currently in each yard, AND it will also tell you when each vehicle was made available in the yard, which will give you a good idea of how picked over a vehicle will be when you get there to check it out. Inventory list also shows which row and space a vehicle will be located in which will make it easier to find once you’re on location!! It’s a great tool for navigating the junkyards and making them a successful trip when looking for parts! Here’s the website:

Oh yeah I know I’m a big fan of LKQ. Well usually lol. I actually used to live near the Chula Vista yard and nothing compares to that one. It’s massive.

We should meet up for a junkyard day sometime!

Never heard of LKQ. Just checked and nothing comes within 150 miles of my zip.

Truth be told I’ve yet to go to a JY here in Duluth, MN. All this talk about it and after watching Rust Bros on Netflix I’m really wanting to go to see what I can find and to simply check everything out. I have been wanting an old hood to try painting, wet sanding, and polishing techniques.
