That's a terible idea, at least for me, being in canada, in the winter i run out to my truck, start it with the key, take the remote fob with me, and use it to lock the truck while it's running, this would not allow me to do that at all...

this wouldn't work for me anyways as i have an aftermarket starter/alarm, but still, for people in a colder climate, it's not the greatest of ideas.

Now if they made a small one just like, double the size of the steel part, that didn't hold the remote, i'd be all over it..

I live in Phoenix, AZ and my vehicle sits in a garage so let's just say warming the truck up isn't a concern lol.

if you have remote start, why would you need a factory keyless fob?

Huh? What he got is a fob with key built in, switch blade style, there is nothing keyless about it.

And even though I have remote start I still need to put the key in the ignition to drive off.

The poster said the switch blade fob wouldn't work for him as he starts his truck and locks it and needs a separate fob to unlock it later to get back in.

I said it would work for me as I have remote start. I don't need a key to start it remotely, but I still need a key in the ignition in order to drive it away. So in my case a separate key or a key built into the fob works for me.

I'm assuming snowjay has the same factory remote start system that I have in my '07--not an aftermarket one with an aftermarket fob. It uses a factory key fob with a remote start button, so it's not nearly as cool as the switchblade one on eBay. With the factory remote start system, you have to insert the key and turn it to the 'On' position to actually drive the truck.
