I always wanted to see what these looked like inside, so i took apart my old ac compressor.

each piston is like a ******** best friend, double sided.

so 10 cylinders technically.

I also confirmed that all of the oil has been removed and measured by doing this.

Going through it real quick, it looks in good condition.
the clutch looked like ass, i don't think it had much left.

Reason for changing this was for mileage, and the weird high pitched squealing i heard when it was running.

Am I the only one that wants to see one of these in an engine form, like maybe a 2-stroke?

I thought about it for a sec.
Impossible with this design, but i think you could make a mean tire inflator!

Issue is that the pistons cycle by a sorta flat disk that's got some wavy action.
The action of that wave is in the center of the lesy double piston setup causing them to work the lesy holes with some double pumping action.

I feel like i could make that dirtier sounding if i put in some effort.
:D

machine shop called today!
looks like they bumped me to the front of the line.

got my stuff back, but i have a little concern.
first they should need to add weight to the crank to counter the extra weight of the pistons right?
It looks like they removed weight...

I took my wife's food scale and measured the pistons with rings, wrist pin, etc.
then took the oem with the same stuff.
sure enough, the new stiff is heavier...

Next the crank work, googling around it looks like the stock specs are
Main: 2.559
Measured: 2.556

Rod: 2.100 in.
Measured: 2.097

So i'm looking at some undersized bearings to make up for the difference.

found some nice .001 undersized for the mains
gets me closer...

then for the rods, i found some .001 and .002 undersized.
but they appear to come in singles, so i figure i might as well order one of each to see where it lands then order the rest.

Indeed. It's like a circle jerk and ******** combined. A "circle bang", if you will.

Order placed, now more waiting!

Decided to go with the "Clevite H" bearings...

As for the assembly balance, I'm going to assume it's gtg.
so I'll run it as is.
they did mention that they would remove material from the pistons, and rods in order to achieve the balance.
I see material removed from the pistons, and i assume the remaining was probably the crank polishing...
