I just finished installing a new box in the old sub location.

I needed to cut out a bit of the panels to make it fit but the box I made fits and is 1.26 cu. ft. of air volume (the manufacturer calls for 1.25).

It sounds amazing! Much better than the original.

I went with a kenwood 12" and a Kenwood 1,000 watt mono amp mounted behind the 2nd row seats in the foot well.

I originally was going to put a grille on the sub to protect it but decided to put a piece of wood in front of it and "peg" it off 1 1/2 inch from the speaker. I don't hear a difference in doing this and it also keeps it safe.

I know the carpeting job sucks on the sub box but let me know what you think about the rest of it.

It's made of 3/4" MDF held together with glue and screws. The carpet is just home depot outdoor carpeting.

I did have to cut an angle out of the front side for the wheel well clearance but besides that it is just a square. The box doesn't go all the way back because of the contour of the Yukon and a couple of obstacles so I made the top longer than the rest of the box (it appears to be much deeper than it is and finishes it off).

Here is the only pic I took in the process of building it.

Nice - I would settle for a nice 8/10 inch sub - but I would like to have a " kit" type so I could self install .................... 2005 tahoe z71

I haven't seemed to teach him to play dead yet but I suppose this is a start!

I thought about going the "kit" route but 25.00 at home depot sounds a lot more appealing and also gives me an excuse to be in the garage with dog-tunes-tools-budweisers. I'll take that anyday ;)

Love it. If I was a little more handy I'd do it myself. Not really feelin the huge box I have in my back cargo area. Too bad I suck @ stuff like that.
