Dont remove the EGR, thats MPG! Fix the darn thing and be done with it.
while you have it off. spray some Berrymans B-12 down the intake ports to clean out the built up carbon, it will work as intended.

Some updates.
Installed the ACCEL super truck tune up kit for the 5.7 vortec and now it runs out smooth.

Still have the high idle and EGR code. Going to work on getting that fixed next. Hopefully that will fix the high idle and get rid of the last code showing on my Hoe.
I have already checked for vaccum leaks and ruled that one out also.

Hey guys, just joined up and my Hoe is running bad. It runs great at low rpm cruise speeds but when you get it under a load, its setting off the CEL and throwing a random multiple cylinder misfire code.

My main question would be what brand parts should I buy to do a complete tune up on my 5.7 Vortec engine?
I have read different opinions on this so I am hoping that there is a common agreement on what is the best stock OEM replacement parts to use?
Here is the list of the 8 things I want to change first off. I have already looked these items over any they all look to be overdue for a change.
1.Distributor Cap
2.Rotor Button
3.Plug Wires
4.Spark Plugs
5.Fuel Filter
6.Air Filter
7.Engine Oil
8.Engine Oil Filter
The Hoe is my daily driver and I want to be sure and use only the good stuff on this tune up. Any help/guidance is greatly appreciated.

Weird. I dont have a Distributor Cap. My is One Piece and all spark plug wires is connected to it.

Ha. You have one you probably just don't see the two screws that hold it to the dizzy.

hmm...take a photo for us and we'll tell you what we think!

if you were really running w.o a dist cap, it would certainly be an interesting convo...

Here is an example of no dizzy = LS powah baby. All NBS Chevys have whats called coil near plug, eliminating the use of a ditributor. Ford hase been using them since the late mid to late 90s as well.

Edited: coil near plug :)
