can you give me soe details about the new spider assembly?

Not sure what you exactly asking, but the old fuel injection spider is the poppet style, and the new one I am going to put in is the one with the injectors at the ends.

The new spider actually flows better than the factory one...don't know if this translates into more power, but you'll have a smoother idle. The marketed improvement is that the new spider doesn't get stuck with the newer fuel mixes like the original spider - should help out with your lean fuel condition.

Hopefully, I will get some "free" extra fuel. I ran the wideband for the first time last night and from 0-90 mph WOT pull, I was running from 14.3 to 16.1 AFR :doublepuke:

Tonight, if we dont have another epic dust storm, I will log some runs to view.

The worst was at 20% throttle normal acceleration......16.2 AFR, but at idle it was right on 14.7 ???????? Im not sure if that is normal.

HAAAAAA!!!!

I decided to do some freeway runs again but this time logging them.
I started thinking about it, the high AFRs under WOT (up to 16.2) in all gears yesterday and I decided to just go ahead and clean the MAF real quick since it is a 3 min job.

HOLY CRAP!!!
:party33:

0-95 mph runs and the AFR never got over 13.9 in first and second, and held right at 13.0 in 3rd gear. I could tell it pulled much much harder in 3rd like at least 20-30 hp difference with 3.2 AFR richer.

Im gonna blame it on the stupid fkin brand new K&N filter oiling my MAF.
The MAF didnt even look dirty, but I could tell the cleaner removed some "color" from the aluminum.......thinly coated in oil no doubt.

Worst part is I just dynoed it 2 days ago before the MAF cleaning....194 hp :emotions122::emotions122::emotions122:

OK, so it is all in.

New Spider MPFI, new Vmax manifold spacer, and new ported throttle body.

Install wasn't hard per say, but if you dont work on vehicles alot, let someone else do it. The fuel lines were the biggest pain in the ass.

Only problem I seem to have is a sucking type sound that can be heard at the bottom of the dash by the floor???? Goes away for a second if you stab the throttle, so I assume its a vacuum related. It is loud enough that it sounds like the blower is on, but I cant seem to hear it in the engine bay.

So I logged a few runs before and after pretty much 0-80 runs.
Next time I will install the wideband to check the AFRs.

0-60 before 13.19 sec.
0-60 after 10.65 sec for a gain of -2.54 seconds.

6-68 mph 1900-4900 rpms 1st-2nd (just a point I picked on the log graph)
Before 16.07 sec.
After 12.61 sec for a gain of -3.46 sec.

Throttle response is stupid. It is pretty touchy and I will have to relearn how to drive it normally.

I dont know what this means as afar as hp or tq, but it must be good according to the runs.

Yes! I couldn't do it myself. I needed help doing mine. Does your #1 plug wire bend at the dizzy to clear the fuel line?

Mine has the exact same noise. Is loud in cab, but can't hear it in engine bay. Stays on for the two seconds the fuel pump runs after I turn the key off. I'm pretty sure it's fuel line related, but my shop says it's ok. So I've learnt to live with the noise. If anyone finds out what it is, I'd be interested in knowing.

Hehe.. yup. I can chirp my tires now. You?
Carefull when going around corners. I stabbed it too much at first and ended up sideways....I've since learnt how to corner now.

Have Fun!

I will jump the fuel pump later and see if the noise is still there when the engine is off.

I have a feeling it is vacuum related but it is just too damn hot here to try and troubleshoot. (Did the install starting at 11 pm).

On the fuel lines, I didnt mount them to the block yet. I moved them to the right, away from the dist cap. I called their tech support today to tell them about it, they didnt know shit.

I might dyno it tomorrow.

I have the same noise when I'm driving. i hear it at idle and seems to go away when I accelerate. I assume it is something with the new MFI. I installed it with the new motor.

unknown at this time.
After getting air in the fuel system in any way possible it will slurp for a while to it is all out. I actually thing the noise is coming from the valving in the tank pump assembly farting they air out.
