Check out the Spectre CAI at advance auto parts...Got it shipped to my door for $95 and installed it last weekend. What a great $95 spent. Love it.

The spectre has an aluminum/metal/chrome intake tube right?

that hurts performance because it soaks heat a lot more than the plastic intake tube. If Spectre has a plastic intake tube, go for it. IMO

It does not hurt performance, (especially compared to OEM intake). It may not be QUITE as effective as a $200-300 kit. But it is a much more efficient intake tube over stock, replaces all the factory housing, straight shot to the ground (access to cool air). AND for 95 bucks, one of my favorite mods. I've noticed increased throttle response and it sounds amazing at WOT.

I had the $100 Spectre kit. I definetly noticed the heat soak because of the chrome pipe. In the middle of town during these 98 degree days my tahoe felt terrible leaving a red light. I ended up removing the kit and buying a Spectre drop in filter with a swiss cheese mod to the stock air box. I am looking into a straight PLASTIC pipe to replace the stock pipe. Possibly the AIRAID modular tube.

I just got the AIRAID MIT put on not too long ago and I LOVE IT!!! I put it in WITH my stock air box and it made a huge difference on it's one.

+2 on the Airaid M.I.T. I installed mine 3 weeks ago, and I absolutely love the sound when I step on the skinny. Monday this dumb broad cut me off, her husband/boyfriend in the passenger seat had his window rolled down. I stepped on the skinny to pass them back and he almost broke his neck turning to see what was coming up on them. I just kind of smiled as I knew he heard me coming. Makes a nice sound, I too have the K&N drop in, with the swiss cheese mod.
