I dropped in a K&N cold air intake over the weekend. 2016 Tahoe LT.

It sounds really cool, but it's a little too much of a good thing for my taste. I was hoping for something a little more subtle.

Question - has anyone been successful in attenuating the volume from a CAI? I'm reasonably handly but I won't be fabricating my own aluminum intake box in my garage.

Failing an answer to that question, I'll be putting the OEM intake back on next weekend. I will then have an essentially brand-new K&N 63 Cold Air Intake that I suppose I cannot return, since it was installed. Couple hundred miles on it, maybe.

If anyone is interested in a good deal on it, PM me.

Do you have a 6.2 or 5.3? Do you mind posting a video of the sounds.

It's a 5.3, but I believe the CAI will fit either; the only part difference is the coupler to the throttle body and the kit has one of each.

I am traveling all week but will see if I can record the sound on my way home from the airport on Friday.

Also, Autoanything sounds like they might accept it as a return with a 15% restocking fee, which i would call reasonable.

Autoanything accepted the CAI in return, very nice of them. I put the stock intake back on last weekend. I like it much better. Experiment over.

The part that makes it louder and gives the performance gain is the intake pipe and the air box or any type of enclosed box will not make much a of difference power wise or noise wise.
