So I have a kicker cxa1200.1
Confused on the speaker wiring.
It's a class D mono amp. So 1 speaker channel but it has 2 output ports (2 negative, 2 positive). What's the other port for?
I have the pdf owners manual and it shows only one way for wiring. It doesn't explain any other way for wiring.
And to be honest this is my first mono block amp.

Going to a kicker L7 12.

You should be fine. It's only a 1ch amp. They extra terminals are just there so you can fit more wires. IE if your running lots of subs or run individual wires for each sub directly to the amp.

Then wouldn't you want a 2 channel ?
Or maybe a 2 ohm dual voice coil? Each voice coil goes to a channel?

Just confused me, never seen a 1 channel amp with 2 channels lol.

Na. Because on a 2ch you either have to run 2ohm stereo or 4 ohms bridged to make the most power. Some monoblock amps make the same power 1-4 ohms. Some make the most at 1 or 2 ohms. Some like my DD amp can run .5 ohm daily.

Like my amp, I'm running 8ga off each voice coil straight to the amp. My amp only has 8ga terminals, so if they only had 1 terminal I would have to wire both to a single 8ga vs being able to use both.

And on my Yukon I have 4 subs going to the amp. Same deal it's hard to fit that much wire into a single terminal. And I don't like to splice wire inside the box. Could always use bolts or a terminal cup, but I like my wire run straight to the amp with no interference or connections to fail

However in your case, I would wire like the manual shows using just the left + and left - with a single set of wires. If you ran both voice coils straight to the amp you could use both sets of terminals or same deal just the left'

On some amps it does matter which set you use if your only using 1 set of terminals.

That makes more sense. Thanks for explaining . I'll just follow the manual.
Just these new designs I'm not use to. Mind you I haven't had a system since 09. I've been out of the game for a hot minute lol

Not a problem. Hope it helps. Lol even back in 09 most of the mono amps over 1k had dual output terminals haha.

Did you ever build a custom box for that L7? It will really wake it up compared to the kicker box.

Well I've always had single cab trucks with 300w shallow subs so never had room to push close to 1k. Now I have tons of room in a tahoe lol.

And yea I built a box. The infamous home depot box lol. Down fire. Again never had room to build a box before, I now understand what an insane difference it makes. It's like a turbocharger for bass by just adding air.99ff44b856ea33752133b8d4d1b0fd04 (1).jpg 58324a101a9543c1caa11ff6e7b5a34c (1).jpg
