Well I started with replacing the oil pump. While I was there I've decided to replace all gaskets to stop oil leaks. Timing set and cam retainer plate. Now before I start going back together I'm wanting to do a cam upgrade. Nor sure of what all I need yo do besides justa cam. Would like to do a texas speed stage 2 truck cam. What all is needed to do this upgrade.

New valve springs are the basic need. LS6 springs are all that's needed if you get the low lift version of that cam. I have the low lift and got my springs from Summit (SUM-174002). I swear they're re-boxed OEM "LS6" springs. If you get the high lift version, you'll need aftermarket springs. According to their site, TSP recommends "PAC 1219 or TSP/PAC Dual Valve Springs". I'd strongly recommend 7.4" chromoly push rods, too.

It's not needed, but if you want a little extra, have the heads shaved about .015" for a little more power and to minimize any loss of low-end pep you might feel from that cam. You should be having the heads cleaned, resurfaced, new seals and valves lapped, anyway. They shouldn't charge much, if any extra to take off a little more when they're getting resurfaced.
