Ok I need to check to make sure its on tight. The cap is always hard to get off so it likely twisted it out/off some.Oops I lied
Verified on my rig. It's just under half a turn. The oil fill cap will also thread directly into the valve cover
There is a large O ring at the base of the tube.
You can buy just the o-ring. You can also buy the tube with a new ring. I had this same problem, and considering a brand new one did the same thing as the old one, I'm probably just an idiot, but no way in hell will I ever admit it. I just removed the filler tube, and put the oil cap right in place. I can use a funnel when I do an oil change, and I was able to lighten my vehicle by three ounces.
