Sway control and it prevents bottoming out. I still haven't done the free travel mod on my truck, just a half dozen other people's. The helper springs act as a bumpstop, mine lift the truck 1/2' with 7psi or so but it's worth the added height for the improved handling and ride improvement.

yea the height isnt my main concern as i will only be lowering my truck a few inches... but at the moment, as i mentioned, my suspension is shot and i am trying to get a feel for what i can/should do to improve the ride all the way around. $1000 puts me at waiting a little while so i can stack some bread though

put some blistine 5100s on there. People at the z71 site do that all the time. I have done that to the silverado and LOVE IT, Ride is so much better and truck has a much more solid planted feel on the road.
