QUESTION: What is the perfect angle for the fuel pickup not to work when the fuel level is low?

ANSWER: MY DRIVEWAY! :emotions122:

apparently the fuel pickup is toward the back and a little left of center which I have cleaverly deduced (dont get to use that word often) because when I backed up my driveway (about a 17º incline) last night with just over 1/8 of a tank I had no problem. Over night tho the gravity fairy paid me a visit and helped the fleeing fuel over the baffles like it was the Berlin Wall. This morning there was just enough fuel to start the truck and let it warm up for about 1 minute. I went back outside and ended up having to steal fuel from my ATV that was tore down for an upgrade. Lesson learned.

A) Dont let the fuel tank get that low
2) If you must park on an incline while low on fuel....park uphill

Hope someone else can learn from my morning, have a nice day!

i had a similar situation happen to me. i was pickin up a coworker before work one day and he was taking forever. i sat in his driveway which is a pretty steep incline(front of the truck was pointed downhill) waiting on him. after about 5 mins the truck ran out of gas. i had to put it in nuetral and roll down into his yard. once i found a flat spot it cranked up, so i hit the driveway with some momentum and went to the nearest gas station

That seems strange. I change the fuel pump on my 01 Yukon and the pump is located toward the front of the tank.

Maybe there was a change from yearly NBS, I dont know. I havent looked into it at all, just using deductive reasoning.

Are you certain that your fuel gauge is reading correctly? An 1/8 of a tank seems like a lot of fuel to not reach the pickup.

I have not run mine out of gas, but my driveway is a hill. If I back in, my gauge reads like I have considerably more fuel than I do, and if I pull in forward (nose down), my gauge reads that I have less fuel than I really do.

Just an observation.

Same here, and I was parked down hill when this all happened. My driveway is pretty steep, with the tank running the length of the truck (2.5-3 feet long) it doesnt take much for the fuel to gather at one end. Its like taking a long baking dish, filling it 1/4 full of water and tilting it only 5º. Now tilt it 20º.

Yep. Same exact thing thing happens to both my NBS XL & Sierra Denali. It can be annoying sometimes.

sounds like you just need to back into your driveway.
