If you don't choose Conley Buick GMC for your service, use a licensed repair facility and keep your receipts.

This 1000% and you should trust and know:

Every oil change will have to be at the dealer and documented at the recommended intervals. Paying their prices.

Trans fluid changes at the dealer at their price.
Engine air filter changes at the dealer at their price.
Diff fluid changes at the dealer at their price.
Recommended $200 fuel system cleaning service... at the dealer at their price.
Headlight washer fluid change (because that’s the type of shit they sell/recommend)... at the dealer at their price.

Oh you didn’t get that “service” when it was recommended? Sorry our expert service department recommended we put that $15 fluid into your fuel tank for $200 and when you said no it left your drivetrain vulnerable to “X” and ironically that’s exactly what made your motor fail...

Not that there’s anything wrong with doing the services you should at the recommended intervals.

Unless THAT dealer has already proven their quality, capable, honest, put their neck out against the manufacturer for me did more than what was fair/expected type of service; Then I’m not getting a 3-ring binder that’s tabbed out to keep all my paper records for 10+ years so I can go to “battle” with a dealership over a powertrain repair when my rig has 185K miles.

No thanks...

In the end this is really just a marketing gimmick that there are very few payouts on, but looks good emblazoned on all of your advertising....

Wouldn't sway me to buy at one place vs the other.....

Almost none of them require any of the maintenance be done at that dealership. Also quite a few say you can do maintenance yourself, just document and keep receipts.

Actually we have found quite a few GMC dealerships offering lifetime powertrain warranties. This is were we bought our '06 Envoy Denali XL brand new and still offers one https://www.haselwood.com/lifetimewarranty/

I used to never get extra warranties and would do the work myself when the original warranty was up. As I got older and my time was worth more, I have got a few in the past. The 3rd party warranty we got for our '15 Suburban LTZ has paid for itself 4 or 5 times over so far, but agree that it is not always that way.

There was 1 dealer that offers it that states any ASE certified repair facility could do the warranty work. I did a quick search and wasn't able to find it yet. I'll update if I do. In the mean time.....

Here are a few examples of others too:

https://www.whitakerauto.com/lifetime-powertrain-warranty

https://www.josephbuickgmc.com/Powertrain-Warranty

https://www.greglair.com/Warranty

https://diamondbuickgmc.com/the-diamond-experience/

https://www.chevroletbuickgmcofmurfreesboro.com/lifetime-warranty.html

https://www.conleybuickgmc.com/lifetimewarranty.html - This one states
DO I HAVE TO USE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE CONLEY BUICK GMC FOR THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE?
No! Although our service departments offers exceptional service at competitive prices, it isn't required. If you don't choose Conley Buick GMC for your service, use a licensed repair facility and keep your receipts.

https://www.starofquakertown.com/Lifetime-powertrain - This one states that the warranty work must be done by them.
What warranty did you get for your 15 Suburban? That sounds like a good one.

This type of warranty is a good sale to a potential owner that doesn’t have their vehicle serviced or typically the customer who has it serviced ONLY when it’s inoperable. When the owner pulls out their lifetime driveline guarantee, it withers away like a papyrus from a 1000 year old sarcophagus when it’s presented like kryptonite for ignorance.

I’m sure those dealers love telling customers they’re sorry the engine rebuild you authorized isn’t covered because there’s no maintenance records for 40k miles since new. Then the clincher, why didn’t you mention you had that warranty up front, we would have told you proof of maintenance was required.

They don’t teach kids how to balance a check book / checking account nowadays. You can bet they don’t inform kids about the recommended
maintenance intervals needed for their first brand new car.

I learned early on in the 90’s to never admit that a service interval was missed. When a repair was declined because of ABC wasn’t completed, my response was hmmm, that’s funny, what’s your fax, I’ve got ppwk on that. A $1.2k repair was almost invalidated due to a missed wheel rotation. My local gas station gave me a blank invoice to fill out as I saw fit because they hated those VSC companies so much.

The two VSC and one CPO one the three vehicles we’ve had them on have all exceed or came close to the cost of the car in covered repairs each time we’ve got them. Those repairs also inadvertently completed most of the required scheduled maint costs too. Winner chicken dinner with a free chicken dinner to boot.
