lift questions 2dr 4x4

I've never body lifted anything but that looks like a stacked lift on top of the stock mounts. Can some one confirm this for me?

I just checked my truck and that's what tell me that is stacked. if it is it is not safe but again lets get confirmation.

It probably is not safe...lol but I bought the truck like this several years ago and have been driving it, towing stuff with it and even towed pavers while the back was loaded with pavers so I dont think it is going to fall apart. I got these tires and wheels about a year ago and I am tired of rub I get when I hit big bumps. It is my beat around vehicle I bought it just to haul, tow and drive thru the flooding of downtown Charleston. I just am looking to get rid of the rub. I am wondering if a 4 inch lift would get me where I need to be? I like the 6" lift but with the body lift I would be way too high. :)

have you tried cranking the bars up front some and maybe putting a 1 or 2" block out back that would get you a couple inches tops but again thats a cheap alternative to buying a lift(and too much crank will start wearing parts in the front end real quick). a 4" lift would get you up there and im sure clear those tires. and with 35" tires your already needing to re-gear unless already done.

I have no idea what keys are except for the kind you put in the ignition. lol I am more of a euro sport car guy. I can probably look for a DIY for turning the keys. thanks for the info. The gears are stock in the truck the only thing I did was add an auburn gear in the rear end. It tows fine with the gears in it now and the 35s. Front suspension needs to be redone anyways thats why I was thinking it would be a good time to lift it.

Those are 3" inch blocks on top of the rubber bushings and they shouldn't do any harm really. follow each torsion bar back into the crossmenber. you will see a bolt near the end that creates leverage against the bar to basically raise or lower its control arm. count haw many thread are left on each one or pics.

Stock 342s as far as I know I have GU6 rpo code and when I put in the auburn gear I didnt count the ring spin.

I say try two complete turns after using some penetrating oil on them and raising the front end off the ground where the tires have ground clearance. Check your cv angles to ensure they are not to extreme. When you are finished with adjustments have you alignment checked.

One other thing you seriously need to do regearing with 35" tires. You are serious stressing out the tranny with that setup.

Remove the body lift. Get the RCX lift. Upgrade the shocks since the rough country ones suck. I don't recommend rear lift blocks when they are larger than 2inches, but they are better than that body lift you currently have. Then regear for the tires you have installed now. No more rubbing, and you will only be 2-3 inches higher than now.

That would be the best way to lift your truck, and the most practical way. That way you can keep your CV angles down for the most part, and not be stressing out your front end as quick

Very nice looking 2 door though bud. One of the few factory 5-speed Tahoe's on this site

Yes. RCX is the Rough Country lift kit. The one bowtie posted up before. It's a 6inch lift. For the price, you get a very good lift kit I think. I had the Superlift 6inch on my 1995 and I liked the quality. But for the price, you can't beat the RCX.

I don't recommend cranking key's or leveling kits for these trucks because all it's doing is putting more strain on your front end. Sure you might save some money on lifting it, but you will be replacing front end components faster, and more often.

Gear wise, being that you have a 5 speed I would call or email some off road shops in your area or a gear vendor and get a better idea. I did some quick research, but could not find much GM related on the topic. But my guess is a 4.56 would work out fairly well for you. Again, I would ask a off road shop on that though

4.10. that would give your engine only 40 rpm more running 35's compare to a stock unit assuming oem tires were 245/75/16. that will compensate for the diameter size as far as engine rpm goes. and will ease the stress of the tranny.
