I’m wondering how much. I’m wondering if it’s that big of a deal and can I exchange the factory g86 to the g80?

In certain slippage situations the electronic traction control tried to override what the locker was doing. This caused noise, a traction issue and a the hydraulic pump on the brake system to have a fit. The simple cure was to turn off the electronic traction control when in a compromised situation.
