Little noob wants to change spark plugs

Starting the plug is easy with a straight spark plug boot pushed on and it gives a little flex and extension to the procedure and easy to pull off once you get it started. I always spin them in as far as it will thread and then pull off boot and finish with the socket.

Or use a short piece of fuel line over, and a little longer than, the porcelain part of the plug.

I have used that as well. I have 3 different lengths of straight spark plug boots. The thing about a fuel line is that most will have a slight curve to them and I like the straight spark plug boot. But whatever works for anyone, is what they should use.

Plus the plug boot is a larger diameter.

when using a real plug socket, its got a foam insert that holds the plug, as well as keeps you from breaking it. for 35 years, it dont matter what engine im working on. new plug goes in the socket, then i turn it in as far as it will go by hand, then snug it up good with a ratchet.

Exactly but the best plug sockets have a magnet now instead of the foam. I have both but like the magnetic better. Just put the plug in the socket and use that to hold onto to spin in the plug as far as possible. If it’s too short for some places I add my 1” extension.

magnetic? have not seen one of them yet.

Bought one back in March and works well. Can’t use this on the #8 plug on my Yukon, but works great on my F150 where the plugs are down a deep well.

Mines just like a regular plug socket, with the hex head so you can use a socket on top of it.

Can you show a photo of the "1 inch extension"? I'm not sure what you are referring to.
