Yes, the above comments about replacing the antenna amplifier appears to be the answer. I did it and the buttons on the door handles are working every time now, so far. Here is the thread about changing the amp. https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/thr...b-range-blows-what-would-you-do.112937/page-7
Mine is 2018 Yukon (not XL) and you can see where the amp is by looking for the antenna on the cargo area side window, and you can see the wires disappearing into the headliner. Those wires are about 2" long and connect to the amp that needs changing. I was able to remove/loosen some trim pieces and pull the headliner down enough to stick my phone in there and get a photo of the amplifier, then ordered the replacement part from Amazon for almost half of what the dealer wanted. The process is a little fiddly, and I dropped one screw down into the netherworld, but not too tough to do it.
