Is this him, and also looking at his 4l60E. Could I really just sent him my 4l65 and for 1400 get it to pro race level???? What kinda power could it handle then? any idea?

Yup thats him. I can't honestly remember the power #s, but I know he has a few 4l60s running 9s mabye faster now since its been a year or two since I was looking at autos.

Just email him, hes a stand up guy to deal with.

But just remember that the prices are if everything internal is good, and doesn't include if you need hard parts replaced. So its best to build your tranny before it goes out. But I plan on having him do the tranny in my tahoe when the time comes, I won't get the pro race kit or anything, but it will hold whatever I throw at it after hes done

ok so if it needs parts replaced he can do that as well. Im thinking of just sending him my tranny right now even though its only 4 months old (got it replaced) and have him beef it up. But now im confused. You say build, does that mean his parts just optimise, they dont really strengthen the tranny.

Don't know why, you would have to contact him.

Yes if any parts are bad he will replace them also. And I'm not sure what you are saying. He adds strength to the tranny as well as making it work correctly. Like I said, hes a stand up guy, contact him and he'll get you the answers that you need

You guys need to remember that most of the stories of 4L60e tranny’s holding up to big power, come from Camaro’s or F-birds.

The Tahoe’s are almost twice the weight. It is not just the amount of power going through the transmission, but how long it has to struggle with that power before the rear wheels spin, or the vehicles picks up speed.

They will last for a while, but the reality is the clutch pack is just not big enough to be reliable. It’s the WOT 2-3 shift that is tuff on them.

I’m still getting away with a 4L60e in the Camaro, because it is so light, but I know it will not last. I’m leaning towards a 6L80e for the Camaro.

Meanwhile, the 4L80e is working perfect in the Tahoe as a daily driver. :)

I think he is saying, why would he need to build it up (ie. upgrading planetary, beast sunshell, warn sprags, etc...) before sending it if he is able to do it for you while it is apart.

What kind of kit did you find?

I bought my kit & didn't install it for another 6 weeks or so.

What's available to you? Do you have the funds to get another tranny ready to go when the original 60e goes?

A lot is going to depend on that right foot of yours.

My setup is still stock. After getting on the dyno, it barely pushes the limits of the stock tranny due to my lift & bigger tire/wheel combo. Since this is my DD, I am not pushing it really hard.

i wouldnt trust myself or that right foot, i have an attendance to pull away from the light hard and to always find those ricers. I could easily swap out my original trans right now and buy a low mileage 4l80e and sell my 4l60e with no problem. im just thinking if i should get a built 4l80e before i put it in. I have a lift and tools, thats no problem. should i give my 90thous tranny a run for the money for a bit or sell it? it has a shift kit in it.
