you can find the PPV tahoes if you search and have patience. i have a 2011 PPV tahoe in white over gray/black. i purchased it with only 7k on the truck, for under $30k. i was the first owner technically, a sit had never been titled before becuase it was a GM manufacturer vehicle. truck is spotless. i actually thought the truck was brand new when i saw it. apparently the gov't vehicles have some paint additive to prevent chipping, so the front end can take a beating. theres also the upgraded suspension, of course the wheels, and theres no side moldings or roof rack or anything, so it looks very stream lined. the inside is bare bones, but its what i wanted. no gawdy fake wood trim or anything. im actually looking for a center console, as thats the only thing i wanted and it didnt have. i will be doing a new kenwood dvd in dash with JL audio components, and doing some custom suede seats and door panels. ill make a build thread shortly.

What everyone else has said so far! I can't believe you have even found one with that low of miles.... Any police vehicle you buy you can be guaranteed that it was driven very hard, most of the time. Just think about it, if you were driving a car that wasn't yours and it didn't matter what you did to it...wouldn't you drive the piss out of it? I know I would!

On the other hand, it wouldn't be hard to replace the seats, the center console is fairly expensive though. No carpet wouldn't be that big of a deal, if you don't care, and you may have to put speakers in the rear doors and in the back?

Nice looking truck

Sourdez, it sounds like you'll probably want to look for a SSV. Those are the 4X4 versions, vs. the PPV, which is 2WD.

The cloth in the front seats are not that bad, although you can probably find leather (or pleather) seat covers that will work. The fabric is kind of a microfiber, and doesn't really look like fabric until you look close. It's pretty stout stuff. Our '10 PPV had a little staining in the driver's seat, but all of the others looked unused.

The rubber floor coverings are durable, but can get annoying at times. Just about everything you put on the floor slides around from interior panel to interior panel, no matter how carefully you drive (and made worse by the used car dealership's penchant for using gallons of armorall on everything!).

Most LEO departments, especially those of medium/large cities or state departments tend to take pretty good care of their vehicles. They've discovered it's way cheaper to do routine maintenance and PM than to fix things when they break (and potentially put an officer in danger).

Our '10 PPV came from the Sarasota County, FL sheriff's department. They had their own maintenance depot, and the officers were required to keep their vehicles clean, so they got frequent, routine detailing.

So yeah, they can be driven hard, but they're usually well-maintained. About all I'd do when looking to purchase one is to inspect it for evidence of being in a wreck (stretch marks around the tie-down holes in the frame, and suspension parts who's colors don't match side-to-side. Otherwise, even at 100K miles, you'll have a good solid truck that'll last you a long while.

Ours came with about 90K miles on it, but looked new under the hood, under the truck and inside.

You can expect to pay around $20-25K for a PPV with less than 100K miles and in decent shape. The prices are starting to creep up, as the secondary market for these things is getting hotter. Civilians like them for their ruggedness and lack of electronic doodads that can go wrong, and security companies are grabbing gently-used examples up to put into their fleet. I spent over a year looking for the one we eventually ended up, after being out-bid and out-maneuvered a couple of times by security companies!

But the one we ended up with is an awesome vehicle!! I'm considering getting one myself after we pay off this one, but will probably start looking for a '12+ Caprice when they start to come off service.
