Looking at a Suburban, should I be worried about the 5.3 AFM issues?

J is the engine code. 8th digit of every vin is an engine code. Stay far far away from a J code 07-10 engine. Heads got reworked in 11 and they are fine.

check the 8th digit of the VIN #, a "O" is LMG 5.3 flex fuel, a "3" is LC9 5.3 flex fuel , a "J" is LY5 5.3 non flex fuel , and a "Y" is L76 6.0 litre.

Don't buy and 07+ with a J motor code. They will start burning oil and then one day all of a sudden they will loose oil pressure and you will need a new motor. Have seen this happen 10+ times on J code motors. (8th digit of the vin) Tahoes Yukons and Avalanches

Seen this where?

You a GM Tech?

Just curious. :elephant:
