Is OEM the way to go? My front pads are at 25% life remaining. I want my new pads to stop me in a short distance. A search on this topic [here] led me to drilled and slotted rotors, which my daily driver definitely does not need, and in fact might even achieve the opposite of what I seek.

I just want grippy pads from cold. Anyone recommend a certain brand or model?

You can, the real question is do you want too? For me a brake change is pads and rotors, but I run my truck hard. Driving style is more like a rally truck then a normal driver.

for what it's worth I just had to take off a set of raybestos E3 pads, I left the rotors and switch to a pad with less bite. it was confusing my regen/ebcm setup. (it's a hybrid thing only) and went with Warren quiet pads with good results in oem like feel. but if you want good initial bite, might be worth a look.

to bad you aren't near San Antonio I'd give you these.
