I had a 99 Yukon until about a year ago. Loved that truck just couldn't afford it at the time. I'd really like to find another one, any suggestions on year?

I forget what year vortec was introduced, 96 maybe?

As far as OBS trucks go I'm assuming the vortec's are better?

Thanks!

96 was start for vortecs. Depends on what your goals are with it. I use my Tbi for hauling. My old x cab Silverado was vortec pretty nice but I never towed with it. My other single cab Silverado was tbi and again pretty nice to yank on stuff. Both ore gone tho

I'll be using as I daily drive mostly, reliability is a must. In the 2 years I owned my 99 It never left me on the side of the road once. So I guess I'm partial to the vortec

My Tbi never let me down even with a blown engine lol. Those are work horses.but since you'd just use it as a dd get a vortex. Better gas mileage

Only real plague with the 90s Vortecs are the Intake gaskets they are prone to fail

I seem to remember getting around 15 mpg before, and that was pretty much all highway. Not too bad for what it is.

How big of a pain are they to change?

They are not to bad , you might get lucky and buy one that has already been replaced with the updated part to prevent the issue

Well I hope so, if not it's just another repair I'll have to make. Nothing I'm not accustomed to with my current dd. lol

Well I've had the pleasure of replacing every gasket and seal on the engine of the ford truck I've been driving. So I think I can handle an intake gasket lol
