The good, the bad and the Ugly.
I wouldn't listen to anyone on the internet that would tell me that you can just ignore lights and gauges when warning lights appear and to just keep driving it.
I'm not quite sure if the sensor is in the tank on the radiator or if it is built into the resivour. But either way, it isn't all that much to change. As I always say - you are there and I am here.
Change the sensor and then come back and tell us if it fixed the problem or not.
I worked on a Caddillac one time that had the same problem and it was not the sensor. We ended up driving it through the auction and let the next owner fix it. I would find out what the problem is - before it becomes a bigger problem.
I was always really lucky that I had enough mechanical problems with my 1999 - 2002 vehicles that the coolant was changed more then necessary and that I never had to put a water pump on one - out along the road someplace.
It's a bear of a job - even though everything is right out front.
