Hi all, aside from the obvious - SC's, Turbos and changing gear ratios, does anyone have any suggestions to add more low end HP and torque? I am happy with my high end just would like a little more responsiveness at the jump.

Current mods are : CAI, Performance exhaust, tuned. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Interested as well, as a 5k-6k supercharger just isnt in the budget for now. Unless I wanna push back buying my next toy(witch I'm not willing to do). But a cam, intake, and heads may be doable. But for torque not so much power. Dont want to do converter swap for higher stall.

You might be better off buying a supercharger. My the time you buy heads, cam, springs, retainers, pushrods, gaskets, and labor (if you arent doing it your self) plus other odd and end pieces that you may need along the way. You said you didn't want to fool with getting a stall either, so you will be leaving alot of power on the table if using the factory converter.

I agree with Wagnasty. You are at the limit with what you are going to accomplish without getting into the engine. Super Chargers are expensive but short of building an engine from the ground up and swapping it in they are hard to beat.

At this point...the cheapest way to get what your after is a ring and pinion change. I am always amazed how easily I pull away from 3.08 equiped Tahoes and Yukons with my Max Tow equipped Yukon that came with 3.42 gears. I really can feel a difference on the street and with the 6 speed transmission that has two overdrives, I'm still only turning 2000 RPM at 80 MPH.

Mooseknuckle you commented you have a performance exhaust. Do you have just a cat back or do you have headers back. Its also commented in another thread somewhere here on the forums but long tube headers have the most gains but give the best gain at the high end. Shorty headers wont give you the biggest punch but they also lean more towards better gains in the low end.

Ya, working on purchasing ****** LT headers. Heard shorty's don't do much more than the OEM manifold. Think I've decided on the supercharger rather than going into the engine. My reasoning is the costs would be comparable to what needs to be done and if I decide to change out the engine to a 6.0 I can re-install the SC on the replacement. Almost had a 6.0 bought a couple months ago but I found out the head was cracked and yard selling it didn't know.

Well your probably going to lose low end with lt headers. Most say shortys dont do anything because they are looking for high end power. Unless your ready to drop bank on your truck anything else you do will be taking power from your high end and pulling it back to the low end. Long tubes will give you more in the high rpms shortys will give you more in the lower rpm ranges. Better gearing will give you a better jump off the line but will pull your potential top speed down. You can do a cam swap but you would be looking for a mild cam probably low to mid range. Some other easy stuff would be underdrive pulley kit, that will free up some power throughout the rpm range. But if your running a audio system or you really like your a/c to function at max. Audio issue can be solved with a better alt but the a/c will possibly struggle at an idle. As far as the big bucks gains your can do a various turbo setups pushing more for low end power or high end.

Well, have a friend that works a the local speed performance shop that is trying to get me to go the engine build out but it's too costly - $10k and up. I think I will look into S/C's as this seems to be the least expensive of options to gain that boost. I know I am going to spend money on the tranny to handle the additional torque so shift kit needs to go in among other things and hope the stock tranny doesn't go out for a while.
