Today while driving through a park I noticed that there is a low speed noise from the rear. It sounds similar to how a brake sensor might sound. However the rotors and pads are good. It happens between 25 or 20 mph down to a stop and only when I let off the gas. When I step on the gas it goes away (hopefully its not something with the tranny). When I step on the brake the noise still happens. I also tried a low speed roll and easing on the e brake and it still happens. It also still happens if I switch from 2wd to 4wd.

Its an 09 yukon xl 88XXX miles. Any help on what it might be is appreciated. I'll try and get a video on here. Preciate the help!

I had similar situation. Mine was a squeak from stop to about 30 mph. Mine was normally under load and not so much coasting. Ended up being the rear u-joint.

Hey Pon or anyone, do you have any way of determining whether its a bad u-joint or a bad bearing? I know you can wiggle the wheel but wondering if there are any other tricks or test for the u-joint since I dont have time to lift it now.

I did another test where I put it in neutral with the truck off and rolled it a little and the noise was definitely the driver side rear wheel. Although I'm not sure but, with it being in neutral and the truck off, would point to the bearing?

I just want to try to get as close a diagnosis as I can before I get into it. Thanks again

To me it sounds like parking brake shoe has let loose but I could be wrong. Obviously it's hard to "hear" it on the computer. My noise was a high pitch squeaking sort of sound, not a grumble like that. Now, it could be a u-joint as well depending on how it is wearing out.

Thanks a lot man! Tomorrow I will finally have a chance to raise it and check it out. Should be pretty easy to determine whether the noise is in the wheel or the ujoint. I probably would be ok changing either one but the ujont is covered by the 5yr/100k and I prefer work smarter not harder lol.

Thanks again
