If your tune is spot on, you can run an LQ9 with the boost you're running now. I'm running about 9.5 to 10 psi with my afr around 10.9 wot on my LQ9 for about two yrs. In cold weather, I've been up to 12 psi without any detonation or issues. Make sure you use good quality, high octane fuel and your tune is as close to perfect as you can get it.
Generally, lower cr is better for boosted apps, but if the tune is right, you shouldn't have any probs. I'd say go for an LQ4 for the safety margin, but I wouldn't pass up a good deal on an LQ9 if you find one.

Ok Ive totally changed my mind!!!! With the money i would spend buying a new reman LQ4 or lQ9 with install will be a waste of money for only 45-50hp tops...
SO ive decided to either get a 408 LQ9 short block or a 421 LQ9 short block and bolt all my stuff on to it.. I will be getting alot more Hp with almost the same amount of money with a stock LQ9 swap
