not lazy just want to see how you rewire a pcm from a four speed to a six speed. Not every application always tells weather or not says a 6l80e has a tranny computer weather or not a 4 speed does the same. need a specific applicatio that used 6l80e tranny. Got one otherwise it will take forever to go thru every model/powertrain config.

Ok, so I found the truck and so now I have to determine what the engine/tranny mods will be. I found a low mileage '99 two door that is completely stock, other than a drop kit. The truck is fully loaded including all of the good heavy duty options including tranny coolers and limited slip 3.42 rear axle.

So, while I am still considering doing the LS conversion, the State of California is a tough nut to crack. That is still is an option, but I want to consider all options which would include the HT383E and the forced induction route (which would involve finding a used Whipple SC setup). And any other options that someone wants to throw out there.

My first inclination is still the LS option, but it just seems to get harder and harder to pull off. Some state referees now require the original gas tank from the donor car be installed. I don't know how an Escalade tank would fit, but it doesn't sound easy.

As to the HT383, this sounds a lot easier than the LS option, but not nearly as cool, kinda more of the same frankly.

The SC option is pretty cool; it is something I wish I had done to my '97 Tahoe but never did. Concerns regarding finding a good unit and replacement parts are the issue with this option.

So, let the discussion begin.

I got the best idea. Move to a non emmissions state and do what ya like:) i will never move to an emissions state for that reason... Ive seen a 383 on a 04ish silvi and it was badass but i bet it wouldnt be cali legal

Do the E Rod engine, run the 6 speed 6L80 and the AWD transfer case from an Escalade or Denali. Then lower the truck with coil overs and a multi link or bagged suspension with big sway bars. It wouldn't get much better than that. Basically a full size version of a Typhoon with lots of power and better economy. Or see about putting in a L92 and transmission from an Escalade with a TVS1900 or TVS2300 on it. Easily make 550-600 hp and have an AWD setup. The drive line would be 07+ Escalade in the body of a classic Tahoe. Also since the 6L80 has such an aggressive 1st gear your 3.42s will be PERFECT

because state law says if you upgrade engine assembly it must be one installed in the same model vehicle of any newer year while retaining all the newer engine emissions components. so a tahoe/yukon 4.8, 5.3 or 6.0 would be legal.
