Ford stopped making the Exursion because of the gas mileage and pressure from the tree huggers/EPA.

They also stopped making them because of slow sales since Tahoe and Suburban drivers couldn't afford them.

If that Excursion is a diesel, then it is definetly dominate in my opinion. IF its a v-10 or 5.4L then I would have to say TAHOE. I really wish Chevy or Ford would start putting the Diesel back in the Larger Suvs, I know theres the whole Duraburb thing but thats the last thing I wanna do to my 60,000 suburban is go put another 15,000 to 20k in it, out of pocket and warranty. If it would have been up to me, I would have bought an Excursion, had only 50,000 miles on it for 27k wife said it would make her feel like she was driving a school bus. haha. I love our tahoe though, plus I got to become part of the awesome forum. haha.

The Excursion only came with 2 types of diesel.... the 7.3L which was a good engine, is very rare, and is hard to find currently..... and the 6.0L which was an absolute dog, they are a dime a dozen! The 6.0 diesel engines have cost owners ten of thousands of dollars in repairs.

Ford made a lot of mistakes in Excursion production. Sunroof never available, the 6.0L diesel nightmare, a chubby little box for a center console, very poor choice in selction of wheel types, questionable suspension setups that almost have to be upgraded, etc... But they all tow like a BOSS.

Iirc, the Excursion was on the Super Duty platform too. Suburban/Tahoe is a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. Besides, Ford's information centers have alway put me to sleep just looking at them, until recently. I'll still take a Chevy over a Ford any day. Maybe that's because my first car was a Ford.
