I recently purchased an 01 Tahoe 5.3 LT with 180k. I was wondering what would be the recommendations for getting this vehicle back in tip top shape.

Known replacements:

Flowmaster exhaust
Power steering pump

The transmission was replaced with a rebuilt one 5K ago.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Any info on existing condition would be helpful, but here are some basics that are always good to check when acquiring a pre-owned vehicle, especially one with an unknown service history:

  • Check or replace trans fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, axle fluids, oil
  • Check or replace hoses and drive (serpentine belt and a/c compressor) belts
  • Check battery and alternator
  • Check suspension links & bushings for wear/play
