My change oil notification came on so in addition to getting that done, I have decided I want to get the transmission flushed and 4x4 system fluids changed. I got quoted $198 for the transmission & $389 for the 4x4 (transfer case plus front and rear diff's). Do these estimates sound too high? Reason I want to get all of this done is to have a baseline on the truck since I bought it used at about 50k miles and it has almost 55k now.

Also, I've noticed that engine rpm's don't decrease in a smooth manner when decelerating from 40-50MPH when I completely let go of the gas, the rpm's kind of "bounce" for lack of a better word. I asked the dealership to check this out tomorrow, personally it feels like a vacuum leak because I get a little bit of brake stiffness in stop and go (plus the rpm's bounce around in those situations as well). Any guesses as to what I can expect from the dealership tomorrow? I have had no angry lights turn on in the dishboard.

I just bought a used '07. Part of the deal was a tranny flush. Per the dealer they used 16qts of fluid when they did this. They normally charge around 260$ if memory serves me.

As for the differentials GM uses their own synthetic gear lube that they charge 38$ a qt! Mobil 1 is 10$ at Fleet Farm. I could not get the fill plug loose on the front differential so I had to have the dealer change the fluid in the front. I decided to have them do the rear as well since it was already there. That bill was 240$ if memory serves.

I was able to change the transfer case fluid myself.

unfortunately that sounds like the ball park area. The fluids gm wants you to use are expensive plus the hourly labor at the dealer. Search the how to and save yourself some money and do it yourself
