There may be a thread on this already, if so I haven't found it. I am in a dire situation, my 4l60 in my 01 tahoe has gone out as so many of them do. I have an entire 6.0 truck at my disposal. They are both autotrac but I know the one coming out of the 2500 has a different spline input shaft. Basically, how can I make this work with my 6 lug rear? I need to get my tahoe back on the road ASAP so any and all answers would help and be greatly appreciated.

Im going to assume you posted this in wrong section.

What year is your tahoe and year of donor truck.
as long as both are 2000 or newer its a bolt in affair.
The most you may need to do is have the drive shafts adjusted for length and or yokes swapped aswell as mod your tahoe cross member, or drill holes and bolt on truck tans cross member..

Have you even looked into this swap and know what all is needed? If not you better get started, theres a million how to threads on GMfullsize and performancetrucks.

You are aware of a retune, wire harness, cross member change, dipstick etc.. right?

Both vehicles are post 2000, I think the donor truck is an 02 and the tahoe is a 2000(NBS) I was aware of the wire harness and crossmember issues, not the retune though. What does that even entail? the main issue i can see my self having is making the driveshaft from the 2500 mate to the tahoe rear end, from what I can tell the universals are different sizes. Any thoughts on this? I plan on taking trans and transfer case from the donor but not much else. The truck is a lot ornament and it has no real use other than parts. I wasn't are it was the wrong section though, it said drivetrain so I figured it was the right one.

You psted in the 2015 section, it happens, no biggie. a mod will move ya post the the correct section.
There are a few guys here that have done this, so hopefully they chime in and correct any of my bs.

Yea, drive shaft shop is in your future. this is simple as take all the drive shafts in and have them cut the 2500 shafts to your tahoe lengths and weld on the tahoe Yokes.
then its a bolt in deal. Balance them.
the cooler lines and dipstick will also need to be adjusted.
Cut the cooler lines and use the appropriate sized "fuel" hose to lengthen them, be sure to DOUBLE clamp them with stainless worm hose clamps. If you don't dbl them and the single you used breaks, well your not ******** trans fluid everywhere.
Check the coolers up front as well. I'm not sure but there maybe a size difference.
Use NEW bolts for flex plate and converter, don't screw around.

You need to contact justin at black bear and do a mail order tune (days) or find a tuner local to you (craigslist, hptuner or efilive) and have them adjust the trans tables.

what are you doing with the 6.0?
Why not just drop in another 4l60 until your ready to swap to the 80 as it seems your in a hurry.

Well I mostly just wasn't sure of how big a job it would be and I already had the 80 stuff here at the shop. There used to be a driveshaft shop in town, but they've closed down so I would probably have to drive an hour to the closest one. The tahoe and 5.3 has about 250k on it, the trans has already been replaced once in it. I don't plan on spending a lot of money on it, so I may just throw another 60 in there and trade it off like I had planned to before it went out. I literally just got it legal and on the road today and the trans goes out -_-. I'll probably save the the 80 stuff for another deal as I'm trying to trade for SWB 4x4 truck anyway. The truck belongs to my dad and he has claim on the engine but that is his only interest in it. I appreciate the input though
