I have a 05 Yukon that I want to put a permanent release on the inside for a camping build I am making. I would need the release to be almost where the back glass is as I have a drawer system that is about 7-8 inches from the floor of the Yukon then with the bedding more like a foot or more above the floor. Any recommendations would be great as I do not mind making a small hole to run a pull cord.

I don't if this will help or not, on the following generation truck, they have a dimple in the plastic that shows where to drill a hole so you can release the gate from the inside with a screwdriver.

Since you need a hole higher up, I suggest pulling the trim panel off and seeing the "layout of the land" and then you'll know how to proceed.
