I got P0107 code and truck was jerking and stalled when let off gas. I pulled into an RV park and a nice man helped me. Took off the map sensor and cleaned with WD 40. I cleared code and it seemed to drive okay, so drove 100 miles to Belgrade MT. Thought I should buy a new sensor, so bought one at o'Reilly. Trying to install it and couldn't get it pushed in all the way. Took for a test drive and it started the jerking again, but i made it back to my son's house. I can't find an ac delco or delphi part here. The part looks the same as the old, but we tried and couldn't get this part to push in all the way so that it wasn't loose. I put the old one back in. Does anyone have any information about why this wouldn't fit? I have been looking online at autozone, etc. , but they all look the same.
Thanks for any help on this.

If you will please put all vehicle info in the post I could look up the correct part and even then it still may be exactly what you have but without info, I cannot be sure. Also, please post the part number and manufacturer of the one you have. This is the AC Delco one that fits my 2005 Tahoe Z71 with 5.3 engine: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1298890&cc=1431156&pt=11207&jsn=932

The part pushes in. The old one has the rubber part partially squeezed collapsed from age and the new one will be a tighter fit from being new. Hell, I just lube with spit but can use a very very very thin film of lube.

I took the part back to O'Reilly and they switched it out for standard brand part AS59. The orginal has 09359409, but no name on it. Also has 0335 number on it.
The guy at O'Reilly put the new part in and I drove it 1/2 mile and it didn't the same , missing and stalling.(same code showed up P0107. I went back and another guy looked at it , taking it out and put back in, and he said it was fitting snug. Went for a drive and the car started to shake and miss , CEL light flashing on and off. pulled over and checked code and got P0300 Random/multiple cylinger misfire detected. cleared the code and drove back to son's house with it missing on the way. checked code and getting p0300 again. but no p0107 code.
should i put back the orginal map sensor in again? it seemed to run okay with it.

Note that this is my opinion only: I wouldn't recommend cleaning any electrical part with WD-40. It leaves a residue. M a f cleaner would be better. Sounds like you got map changed out anyway. You might want to check the MAF. You can start by cleaning that with specific MAF cleaner see how she runs. As OR VietVet stated, It still might help if we knew some vehicle data like model, year, engine, drivetrain and miles. The general consensus is that the MAF tends to crap out after 140k miles or so. Posting some fuel trim readings would be helpful too. You have a scan tool that can read live data to look at misfire counts?

If the new MAP sensor still snaps in place, with those two tabs snapping over the sensor, then it should be fine.

The guy was trying to be helpful and said the sensor was probably clogged, so he used WD-40. I drove it over 100 miles without the code coming back.
I wanted to buy a new sensor just in case it would go bad again. But the 2 sensor brands that O'Reilly sold caused problems and didn't work. The last one caused the engine to miss and put out the P0300 code.
I put the old one back in that had been cleaned with the WD-40, drove back to O'Reilly to return the sensor that I bought. Drove about 6 miles and it seems to drive okay with the old sensor. I will try and find an AC Delco one but I am suppose to leave here in a few days and there are none available here in Bozeman. The dealer is closed, so don't know if they have one.

This map sensor is located between the manifold and the firewall. So, I can not see it and have to feel with my hand to remove and replace. There are two jaggy things on each side of the hole for the sensor. As far as I can tell, the only think holding it in place is the rubber seal.

I don't have a scan tool, only a code reader.

The MAF is easy to get to and a known weak spot. I replaced mine with Genuine GM part before mine would go out. It was gonna anyway. There is MAF cleaner you can get and clean yours like @afpj said. It is inexpensive and worth a shot.

Even the MAP sensor is easy to get to... 8 mm bolt to remove the plastic vortec cover, 3 10 mm bolts holding that plate that routes the throttle cables , and it's right there close to firewall. The hardest part for me was spreading those tabs apart to pull out the old sensor. The electrical connector was surprisingly easy to pull off considering it hasn't been touched in 20 years.

The MAP sensor on mine isn't located under the plate , so i don't need to remove it. it is down and behind that area where you can not see it. So, I don't know what you mean by spreading the tabs apart to pull out the sensor.

I see that there are two listed for my car. One has a temp. sensor and is more expensive. Easier to find the other one.
