I was reading on a forum that if I change out the master cylinder on my 96 tahoe 2wd to a master cylinder for a 2500HD/3500 of the same gen that it would get rid of that spongy brakes?
does not get rid of spongy really. sponginess is more like air in the system. but if the volume of fluid is increased over the old mc on a given piston stroke it can push the wheel piston farther that it requires less stroke of the pedal.
I did it and i found no improvement in braking. In fact, it felt worse to me. Only after replacing the rear drum harware and the correct mc did it feel better than before
