Max AC?

Well I already have it set at 70 and it was 103 outside today. When I get in….it just lopes along at mid fan speed at best. Also when I remote start it certainly isn’t blasting the air when I get in…still doesn’t make sense to me, but oh well….
You lowered the automatic fan speed in the settings correct? (i think that was you in the other thread anyway). If you put that on high then the system will push max air flow in the situation you described -- but its annoyingly noisy the rest of the time.

You are correct, and that did work for 80% of its daily normal operation. Happy with no longer being in a small windstorm when we ARE at temp. But in most cars I either own now or have had in the past they have all had a max AC button that cuts all the crap and just turns the thing on High immediately. I am not chiding this vehicle because it doesn’t have it. I can certainly figure out a workaround. It just kind of doesn’t make sense to me when it’s 103 outside and you get in and it’s baking hot and the system just lopes along to get you to 70. Or when you remote start it, and you get in and you find out for the last five minutes before you got in, it’s not blasting cold air, it’s running on a relatively mediocre speed and hasn’t really changed the interior temperature much at all…

This was my temp yesterday with 75 to 80% humidity. Remote started my vehicle. Ran for at least 5 to 10 minutes. It was set on 70. Shouldn't have to change that setting for anything winter or summer. It should push (I think..) progressively from maximum output to graduated lesser output as it attains temperature.I guess the main issue is we've never had it this hot and this vehicle doesn't react like any one I've owned previously. This is my first GM vehicle since the late 90s.

Why not just adjust the temp and fan speed by hand? Would take just a few seconds. Last 3 rides i have owned, have all had auto mode, and i hate it, it doesnt work as i want, so i just adjust temp and fan manually. Its simple and i can adjust as needed. Dont have to worry about auto not working as i want. 70 for ac isnt that cold for an ac. When its summer set temp to lo and let it get cool and turn down fan and raise temp pnce its close to what you want. Set on lo it will chill the air much more than at 70 at same fan speed. The temp i run in my ride depends on what it is like outside, as well as what i have been doing. It is rarely set at one temp all summer and one temp during winter. It can change on an hour trip dependent on if its sunny or cloudy as well as if facing sun or driving away from it. The hvac system isnt set up as a set and forget forever system, you need to adjust it depending on the circimstances of the day.

If yours isn't going full blast when it starts then it needs to be checked out. I just got back from a trip to the fitness center with the Yukon sitting outside in the sun when the temp was 97. At startup the AC fan was on high. Within a quarter mile it started slowing and within a mile or so it was down to the point i didn't even notice it was still blowing. Inside temp was set to 72 with recirc off. Couldn't ask for better.

This was something i thought of mentioning but by the time i wrote my message i forgot. It is possible that something is messed up/needs an update to eliminate, or quite possibly just a settings change needs done.

The recirculating button is the Max AC.

That’s funny, I tried that button the other day when it was super hot… Didn’t change the output a bit….
Recirc is always "MAX AC". The trick is that the delta T between the air over the evaporator and the evaporator is less, so cooling is more efficient...this, of course, requires that the temp of the interior air is less than the outside air, which isn't always the case immediately after startup if the vehicle have been sitting in the sun for a few hours. The other area where recirc helps vs. not is that once the AC has been going a bit, the relative humidity inside the vehicle is usually less than outside, as the AC system has removed some H2O from the air, so you get the humidity out faster using recirc.

Even on the old GM's that had "Max" on the control panel, all it did was shuttle between sourcing air from outside and inside the vehicle. The reason the old fan seemed to move more air then was because it was not having to push air out the vents of the vehicle, so the airflow was higher.

Well I guess I opened a can of worms with this….
I fully understand how “recirc” works.
Based on my last few vehicles, max AC to me meant pushing one button and getting max AC, blower and all till I turned it off, regardless of settings.
Also, when remote starting you got max AC on a hot day, till you got in and hit the start button.
But this vehicle is not like that and I will adapt. Thank you for your responses…..
