Max tire size w/CCM 2.5/1 kit

I did a search and looked for a sticky but still can't find what I need. As I said in the heading, I have a 2.5 front 1 inch rear lift/leveling kit from CCM I'm installing this weekend.

I plan on running 17's because I want to use this truck to do some "real" 4-wheeling at times.

What tire size can I run without having to do any kind of alterations? If you want to tell me what size you're running on 20's, that's ok. I can figure out what the same size would be on 17's. I want 'em to look good, but I don't want any rubbing or interference with tire articulation if possible.

Thanks for any experiences you have running this kit.

i believe the 285/70 is the largest, and even then a 1/4 less back space wheel is ideal. the mods needed for most clearence,is trimming the black reinforcement behind the wheel liner in fron t of the wheel , behind the bumper. it is very easy to do, and when complete , most use a zip tie to pull the liner forward for clearance.....i may look into making a bracket, i cant see using a zip tie for a permanent fix on a 50,000 plus vehicle.

Not much room to run larger tires without modifications. I run 285/65/18s on stock wheels and had to trim 2 inches off the front bottom valence. With that small increase in tire width I rub the UCA and swaybar at full lock so keep this in mind with aftermarket wheels (offset and backspace).

If you really take it offroad you should consider removing the lower front air dam since you have an LTZ. The Z71 bumper is not as thick to provide more clearance.

I would say if you don't want to trim then stick with a 285/70/17, as most will tell you it is not the height that is the issue, but the width. I run 305/55/20(33x13x20) on aftermarket wheels and after some trimming I do not rub at all on road, off road doesn't matter, but I did trim metal at the pinch weld behind the front tire.

my wheels are 20x8.5 with 4.5" backspace and they do not rub the swaybar at full lock...I had a set of wheels that had 5" backspace and they rubbed the swaybar. with the wheels you are looking at I think you'll be pretty flush with the fender.

I have a 2010 yukon XL , and I want to do the truxx lift kit , where did you guys trim? was it all metal trimming or just plastic ?

most trim the pich weld at the rear of the fender well, and the plastic bumper skin reinforcement at the front of the fender well. and like stated a wheel with 1/4 " less BS than stock seems ideal for a 285 tire. keeps it away from the swaybar and uca, but dosnt increase the radius of turn enough to catch the fenders.

Sounds like the consensus is that 285/70/17's are the largest size possible without trimming. And may require some trimming.

Zed 71 - You're running 285/65/18's. Those are basically identical in size to the 285/70/17's. And you have a leveling kit and still had to do a fair bit of trimming? That makes it sound like even this size may be too big for me. What leveling kit do you have?

InTruck - You have the exact same leveling kit as I'm installing. Your tires are about 1/2 inch taller and almost an inch wider than the 285/70/17's. You're running wheels with the same backspace as mine. And you had to do some minor trimming. So according to your setup, I may be good with the 285/70's.

Sounds like the 285/70's may be the way to go depending on what amount of leveling kit Zed used. To keep from having to do any trimming though, I may have to go a size smaller.

Is there anyone out there running the 285/70/17's with the CCM 2.5/1 kit?

Going to an all-terrain tire will probably look a lot better by itself, so I may be ok even if I don't totally fill the wheel-well.
