Ok I have an 03 Yukon I just picked up with 145k miles on it. Truck runs amazing and came with 26's, dd headunit and dvd etc... Very nice. I was really hoping for a denali but scored this truck cheap. It is 2 wheel drive which is fine with me cause we never really get much snow/ice around here.

Now for my question. I'm really wanting to take out the 5.3 soon and replace it with an lq4 or 9 depending on what I find and am curious on what exactly needs to be done. With the 5.3 trans, exhaust, motor mounts all work? I've read to just swap over the 5.3 intake and use the stock wiring but is it really this easy? especially with a 2wd I'm hoping it'll be a cake walk (yeah right) lol But anyways also I read you can use the 5.3 tuning until you can send off for a 6.0 tune?

Fill me in those of you with experience please!! Thanks

keep everything on the top end, injectors, intake, etc...just slide the longblock under it, and eventually get the computer tuned for the 6.0 to optimize.

I've got a 2002 Tahoe 4WD with 190,000 miles on its 5.3. It's my daily driver and I occassionally tow a 6000lb travel trailer in the Colorado Rockies. I'm considering doing the 6.0 swap in the future.

What year GM crate engine should I be looking for that will not have the piston slap issue? Should I go with a LQ4 or LQ9? Is there a recommended cam for a daily driver that does occasional towing?

I'm not planning on doing any eccentric mods, just putting my current CAI on the new engine and getting a tune.

I just replaced the transmissiom. What else should be "new" when the engine gets replaced? Starter? Radiator? Alternator? Injectors? Motor mounts?

What will I keep off of the 5.3 to go on the 6.O?

Thanks for any info...

use all the 5.3 stuff, and add on top of the longblock 6.0. Then, have it tuned to optimize the added cubic inches. I'd get a LQ9, more compression for a NA ytruck. But either will work.

The piston slap, not sure if it REALLY was ever fixed, but of course the newer, lowest mileage one is the best bet.
