I do hear it. That would bug me and I would be worried about an engine issue. It does sound like pre-detonation.

In my experinece I go to different dealer and tell them what the other dealership did. Then they are happy to win my business.

It's a stuck lifter. Reproduce it in park, and rev around 1700RPM and 2200RPM. WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK. That poor camshaft is getting beat to hell with a stuck lifter.

Good luck getting authorization for a fix. I've been fighting to get it fixed for months now. I found a dealership where it bothered the techs also, but they couldn't get it authorized for warranty repair. To fix a stuck lifter, you have to disassemble the entire engine, all the way down to the head, inspect the camshaft (which is for sure getting damaged). I had a motor fail from that issue at 18K, and am now on my second motor, which is again failing from the same issue. DM me if you'd like to share notes.
