Believe it or not...amount of daylight is the primary factor for trees going dormant, and thus their leaves changing color and ultimately falling...I once thought it was the temperature, until I traveled to south Texas in winter and found leafless (dormant) trees and shrubs and temperatures in the 50's at night and 70's during the day.Santa Fe has Fall?
