Mileage v. Engine Hours

I just purchased a former Border Patrol 2011 Tahoe with 112651 miles and 7158.4 engine hours. If you were to try to compare Eng hrs. to milage how many miles would my Tahoe have?

We had this discussion a few months ago. Check out this thread for observations. Thecopcar has 208K and 9700 hours, ex Texas DPS. On the other hand, thethirdtwin has 133K and 3700 hours. ITs a consumer model, so if I used a simple ratio, thecopcar has the equivalent of 345K on the engine.

If I remember correctly I think 1 hour of idle is equivalent to 30 miles

engine hours say it was driven 15 mph over it's lifetime, so it probably sat and idled a lot which is pretty typical of a police vehicle
which means the guys probably sat in it in the desert parked looking out with there binoculars a lot or left it running while they questioned the coyotes

GM uses 35 miles as an equivalent to engine idling hours. You have approximately 250k per the equation. I'm not a fan of high idle hours, but understand that's life. My last work truck with a 6.0L had 8000 hours on it and 165k when I got a new one. I did idle it in the summer for A/C and heat in the winter. It still ran as good as new, didn't use a drop of oil, etc. As long as the fluid was changed regularly as well as spark plugs,your probably good. A good long road trip here and there also cleans things up.

I have a 2005 with 130,000 miles and i know it was a long-distance vehicle in the past, it only has 1900 Hours on the engine... The industry average is 35 X Hours = Mileage if you are lower, less wear and tear on engine vehicle was more highway miles less startups, less idle time. More=Less preferable.
