I say if it happens again let me know. Still does not solve the bad data issue in the diag software.

Im sure I can fix the software and it's the least of my worries at the moment. As long as the backup holds up I am happy to fix it later. Im just concerned about this coming back is all. What do you think of the plug when you read it?

unknown at this time.
A tad little on the rich side but maybe just some very minor oil contamination. What are the specs on the computer that is running scanxl?

I heard the newer engines have longevity issues with the coils. That's what lead me to buy a 95.

Would a bad coil throw a code? I am about to roll over 170K and noticed when I was doing my intake gaskets that the coil is still riveted to the bracket. I am getting what feels like a little skip or miss at first startup and idle, but if it is even real it goes away really quickly.

It'll throw a code alright. But check the plug to see how it's firing and compare it to another. It might be time. They get weak over time. I'm going to swap mine out when work picks up. But being I have a 95, I only have 1- and at 243k, I believe I'm on borrowed time aswell like you.

96-2000 5.7 only have one coil as well there chief. Before I went throught the intake deal I had two occasions upon driving on the interstate in the rain were the truck began to run extremely rough, and then die. Would turn over fine but never catch. Dry it out charge the battery and she was fine. I changed rotor, cap, wires, and plugs and haven't had any trouble since. I think im gonna slap a new one on there in the near future.

My 97 had coil packs for some reason. It ran fine, but I got rid of it to get the wife a traverse. I'll keep thst in mind when I give the 95 Tahoe to my son in the summer, I'm gonna want another newer 2 door model- 96 er so . Thanx for the update.

Really? They had to have been aftermarket. I somewhat get the advantage of coil packs but after watching my brother's nightmare with his 05 ford, I hope I never see them.
