I disagree my mother has a 2011 tahoe and drives like a grandma and gets worse mpg's than my 2004 yukon with 87k on it. before and after the supercharger.

That's just one example and doesn't mean much. You fill up your 2004 and let someone fill up their 2011, and I bet they make it further than you! I've already said consumers are calling the new Tahoes gas guzzlers.

Well the reason I got the 4.8 was to get atleast 20mpg

I forgot that it was a 4.8, but I understand. I will own another SUV in the future only if it is a Hybrid. My friend has an Avalanche that switches to 4 cylinder, and he complains about it drinking gas. There are too many people saying that Tahoes/Yukons rarely switches to 4 cylinder mode, even on the highway. That is why I must have a hybrid when it comes to SUV's.

I should be getting better with the 4.8 . What mods do you have Tracy.

the 4.8's like to rev to make any power...problem is, its a small motor to move 5600+ lb truck. :(
All I have done is CAI and BB tune...and 4.11 gears.
But at 75 MPH, its at 2300-2400 RPM's, not bad.

Most every ones MPG difference is in the driver! I can drive ours (and I am not really easy on it) and get 17 mpg all day long, combined city and hwy, my wife can get in it drive the exact same places I did, and will manage about 13. I kinda figured out on ours, that if you just putt around town it gets terrible MPG, but if you goose it a little it does a lot better.

EDIT: I use the gascubby app as well to keep track of everything for my Focus.

As I stated in my earlier post to this thread, 16.8 is the best I ever averaged over 7-1/2 years of driving my totally stock 03 Tahoe LT 4WD...and that with a light foot I might add...

I expect my average to take a beating when I replace the stock 16" rims with the 20" 285/50 combo. :(

I figured I would get close to 20 with a 2wd and a 4.8L bone stock

Just drove my 2003 Suburban from California to Michigan...got 17.9 like clockwork at 70-75. One day I happened to fill up at Shell and managed to get 18.5. Ran the A/C the whole way. Oh, it's also a 4x4 with 3.73's.

Oh, yeah...I should add that I have zero mods (except the Denali wheels the previous owner put on it...if you wanna call that a mod) and 150k on the clock.
