i think the Z28 MAF will under report compaired to the MAF you have now... it might actually FIX your problem! hhahaha

either way, sounds like a computing issue... the air/fuel mixture sucks which means you aren't getting very good gas milage. The open gap at the TB could very likely have been the problem as well... heres why

Your MAF is reporting air intake right behind the filter, however the air load going into the TB would be different if it were sucking in air from the gap then what the MAF is telling the computer. Therefore the computer is delivering the incorrect portion of fuel and you are having a rich condition.

Having your FIPK 100% tight at all locations is more important that you think. This goes for anyone who has removed their intake (stock or not). It is incredibly important with todays computerized vehicles to seal these thigns up 100%.

I would do a tripple check to make sure everything is tight, go buy a can of MAF cleaner and do a quick clean job on the MAF. You might get lucky

I just gave away a MAF from Granetelli which does just that, leans the truck out to make more power.

Also take in consideration, Gas stations are doing the winter mix thing. where they change the whole formula of gasoline for the winter time, it really fawks with your gas mileage. i can see it in my grandprix already. usually get 60 miles per quarter of mytank, im at half a tank already with less then 100miles..

Id clean that mass air flow pretty good. K&N filters use that oil that also gets the mass air flow screwed up. But buy a can, take off your MAF and spray it down both ways.. while you have that off, clean the throttle body if theres any carbon on it.

how do you calculate your mileage? i need to know!

fill up your truck 100percent like until the pump clicks it off, then drive around (make sure you reset your trip on the gauges)... drive around until you need to fill up again.. fill up 100percent until the pump clicks off. Then take your miles and divide it by how many gallons you just put into your truck..

so you drive 100 miles, go to the gas station and put 2 gallons in your truck.. you then get 50mpg! lol i wish i got 50 shit..

For the Canucks out there, here is how I caculate mine. These are my numbers from my truck.

500kms = 310.7miles
80litres of fuel = 21.1us gallons
310.7/21.1 = 14.7MPG

You have a 50% chance of being right, and a 100% outcome of being wrong.:emotions122:

Not true. If there is a lot of carbon build up, it tends to absorb some of the fuel and make it a bit lean. The 02 sees this and sends a signal to the Pcm to Richen the fuel mixture. Besides a induction service is probably the cheapest route to try, before replacing components.

Mines clean as a whistle. Seafoamed less than 4k ago, new ported tb around the same time. When I tightened up the intake I noticed the rubber gasket that goes in between the k&n and the tb was pushed out of the way, leaving a big gap, I could wiggle the whole intake. I got 3 shorter bolts for the intake now its not going anywhere. It sounds a little different under throttle, I'm assuming from eliminating the leak.
