I have a 100% stock Tahoe with 91k miles. I would like to have some input on what the best tuner, programmer, etc. for the most mpg. I also want to know about air intake systems (dry or wet) along with an opinion on Flowmaster exhaust. This is all I want to do to this truck. Factory tires will be the same. I know someone has been on this subject and I would like honest answers please. All responses are appreciated.

Blackbear tune seems to be the preferred choice. The stock intake is a CAI.

Get an Airiad Jr. elbow and run a stock paper filter.

The main thing I wanted to change was to get rid of the stinking active fuel management. The most cost effective way I know of to do so is to swap for a retuned PCM from Black Bear, with at least a slightly better performance tune included.

I purchased an AutoCal from Black Bear. Had a LOT of trouble getting it to work. Of course, I'm 56 years old, and although I am pretty computer literate, I am sure the younger generation would have an easier time with it. I went to full synthetic from end to end the same time as I added the tune. I gained about 1 MPG between the synthetics and the tune, and also gained a reasonable improvement in performance. My only suggestion to Black Bear would be to look into SCT tuners. In my opinion, they are far better than this thing called an Auto Cal, and they can be used for data logging as well. I believe a Black bear Tune with an SCT tuner would be a winning combo. They do have USB connectivity.

I am getting about 17 MPG combined with a 5.3.
