A car needs some exhaust backpressure so you don't lose too much of your low end.

True, but if he is running stock manifolds and cats, I wouldn't worry about backpressure.

you may want to check ebay. i had bought a gm catback ,NEW, for 250. only reason i did not put it on was that it was for a 07-08 style. apparently something is different with them. but borla makes their kits for them. ive checked just mufflers and having it cut and welded....your gonna be in the 250-300 range depending on the price of the muffler. may be worth it to just buy the catback kit.

i got the flowmaster from amazon for $79 free shipping. just came in this morning. muffler shop down the street is putting it on for $40. i decided on the super 40 because the other day i was at krispy kreme and saw a new body style tahoe started talking to the guy and asked what exhaust he had and he had the super 40 also and i really liked the sound. wasn't too loud nor too quiet, and sounded good when he took off. and I'm not too worried about the drone. the super 40 was suppose to help decrease the drone the original 40 has. but we'll see. i looked into magnaflow and they sound good, a little more pricey but when i heard the super 40 i just knew i coouldnt go wrong, plus it was cheaper. im not really picky, i just want a little more growl. thanks for all the help! and i also just ordered the rough country 3.5 inch lift and some fuel octanes...still deciding on what 33" tires, but once i get all that on i'll post some pics!
